DIRECTV Beats Cable TV

We have been itching to get rid of Comcast digital cable for a long time. The problem is they suck you in with their bundles that include telepone, internet, and cable TV service. When you need to disconnect one, you lose the discounts of the package.

But the cable TV service just has to go, as the service and quality is well below average. There is so much discussion today about HD, there isn't much of that with Charter Cable. So I began researching who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the people who have been given a couple of choices. Unlike many people who can only select from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have a third option in this region. The phone company in my area has been altering the telephone network. So there is another consideration with AT&T and their U-Verse service.

That doesn't of course mean I won't have similar problems. It would put someone in the same situation as with the cable TV company, because telephone company want customers to package their TV setup with high speed and voice service. If the service works out well, I'll be pleased. But if its not you are in the same circumstance that I'm in now with the cable operator.

Most reviews I found are fairly good on telecom TV service. Of course it is new, there is always a risk with a service like this, and some people share their bad reviews. Those reviews are the quite amusing, simply for the reason people decide to write a bad review on their bad experience and post it on the web. They rail on the company like it is some huge conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, as if the corporation does not want to make money!

Another way to go that I am seriously considering is of course satellite TV. Since we have four television viewers in our home, we usually buy a high end cable television bundle. The satellite TV choices are fairly even, as the DirecTV Premier and the Dish Network Everything package are each about $115 per month. Yes that's fairly pricey for cable television, but if you compare that to taking your family to supper and a trip to the movies, it really isn't all that much. Some in my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas programming package looks like a winner. The good thing is that there are lots of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.

Repair Windows Registry

A Free Registry Scan Is Just A Plus...

The Windows registry is nothing more than a ever-growing database that lives in all Windows operating system that holds all the settings, options, preferences, and hardware options of the user. It continues to grow each time you boot Windows. Each time your computer starts, the system first reviews the registry to let all installed program know the settings, documents, program paths, and much more stuff. The registry gradually accumulates clutter this way, and this eventually leads to a degradation in the computer’s speed.

When you install and, later, uninstall a piece of software, little bits of it will be left in the Windows registry database also.

Here's the rub -- Once you have made a change to the registry, you can’t undo it without special programs (or manual editing).

Manually editing your registry could be a disaster and is NOT something the average computer user should try. Think of it this way: the best registry is always an unmolested registry.

Ever since Windows 95, most if not all programs will deliberately place permanent entries in Windows registry to preserve licensing information, that are not deleted when the program is uninstalled. This left over "stuff" continues to accumulate until a registry cleaner application is used to get clean it out.

Also, all software malfunctions could further corrupt your registry.

What to look for in a great registry cleaner

Registry cleaners are designed to scan the registry, identify, and delete the unneeded entries it holds. But that is the perfects situation. The truth is, there IS no perfect registry cleaner. All registry cleaners have algorithms which assist them “identify” what is a necessary key and what is junk. There is no method of knowing if deleting a registry entry will impact computer performance in subtle ways. So, a good registry cleaner should let the user to backup the registry before you begin cleaning the registry.

Here's a manual way to back-up the registry very simply:

Click Start - Run
Type in the words - regedit (which opens up the registry editor window)
From the box, hit File - Export
Save it as something you'll remember, preferably including the date

Balanced scanning registry cleaners
Scam registry cleaners


A deep cleaner is actually harmful to your system since it may delete some important registry keys by being overzealous. A light scanning program, isn’t much use either; it merely scans the surface. A bogus registry cleaner is dangerous, since it is spyware disguised as a registry cleaner. Do not download something simply because it’s free!

The “best” registry cleaner is one that:

Defrags your registry
Allows backups of the registry
Asks you if you would like to delete each entry and provides solutions
Perform other functions in addition to registry work


Instead of just suffering with the slow speed of your system and the constant blue-screens, you can, in fact, do something about it.  Do yourself a favor and get yourself a recommended registry cleaner.  It will help your system run as smoothly and quickly as the day it was brand new.

Outlook Mail: Save Multiple Mail Attachment Files Simultaneously

Do you sometimes receive email messages that contain more than one attachment? If you have, you probably saved them one at a time, which works well enough when getting these kinds of messages is infrequent. But if you receive a lot of messages with multiple attachments, or they're rare, but when they come they contain a lot of attachments, you might be interested to know that there's a way to download attachment files en masse instead of one at a time. It's not hard to do this, but the process varies a little bit depending on whether you are using Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. What follows are the steps for each version of Outlook. To minimize the chance for confusion, there are separate instruction sets for each version of Outlook.

How to Save More than One Mail Attachment at Once in Outlook 2003

Follow these steps to save more than one mail attachment at a time when working with Outlook 2003.

  1. Open the message containing the attachments you want to save.
  2. Next, click File. In the menu that appears, click Save Attachments.
  3. When the Save All Attachments dialog box appears, find the Attachments list, one or more attachments that you want to save, then click OK.
  4. In the Save File dialog box that appears, navigate to the folder that you want to save the attachments in and click OK to save them.

Saving Multiple Mail Attachments at a Time in Outlook 2007

Follow these steps to save more than one mail attachment at a time when working with Outlook 2007.

  1. Select and open the message containing the attachments you want to save.
  2. Click Other Actions in the Actions panel of the Ribbon. Then click Save Attachments.
  3. When the Save All Attachments dialog box appears, find the Attachments list, one or more attachments that you want to save, then click OK.
  4. A standard file save dialog box appears. Navigate to the folder that you want to save the attachments in. Click click OK to save them.

Clubpenguiin Case of the Missing Coins

Here's a complete walkthrough to the third CP mission, called Case of the Missing Coins. In this third mission, have to do a lot of detective work to determine how a huge pile of coins from the Gift Shop vanished!

  • speak with the green penguin wearing the beanie standing outside the vault.
  • Keep speaking with him until he tries to show you the door was secure. He shows you by closing the vault. It locks and he has forgotten the combination.
  • Walk inside the office marked with the Staff Only sign.
  • Go all the way to the right until you get to the couch.
  • Click underneath the sofa.
  • Pick up the floppy disk and the paperclip and put them in your inventory.
  • Go back to the left to the computer. Put the floppy in the disk drive and turn on the computer.
  • Click on My Files.
  • Click on combination_number.
  • The combination changes each time you attempt the mission. Remember the numbers for NESW. These letters are directions (North, South, East, West) and will map to the combination on the safe.
  • Go down stairs and enter the combination into the safe.
  • Walk inside the vault.
  • Click on the coin pile on the roof.
  • Your phone will ring. G will ask you to meet him at the HQ.
  • Head back to HQ and talk to him.
  • Look at the video. Then go back to G.
  • Click on the drawer and pick up the gold key in the top left corner. If you want to decode the messages on the keys, the one in the top left is the one that is labeled correctly.
  • Go inside the office in the gift shop one more time.
  • Open the door to the roof with the key that you found inside G's drawer.
  • Open your spy phone and get the spanner.
  • Open the box with the tool.
  • Throw the paper clip in the box. It will make it short-circuit and shut the power off.
  • Pick up the white stuff in the drain.
  • Go to the vault downstairs.
  • Click on the coins.
  • Go to Headquarters and give G the fiber that you found on the roof..
  • Walk to the right. Pick up the flashlight under the map.
  • Go to the Town and speak with the brown penguin who is crying outside the night club.
  • Go in the club and turn on the flashlight, or if you have night vision goggles use them instead.
  • Go to the secret entrance to the boiler room. It is one of the loudspeakers towards the right.
  • Locate the fuse box and click on it.
  • Read the instructions that are inside of the fuse box.
  • You have to make all the lights green. Follow the instructions for this game. It can be a little challenging.
  • When you get the power on go inside the night club and talk to the penguin that was sobbing.
  • Go to HQ and talk to G.
  • Get the medal and a thank you card. You completed the mission!

What is World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft or WoW as it known, is a "Massively Multi player On-line Role-Playing Game" or MMORPG. Making Customer Satisfaction Surveys Work

Why should you bother?

Good customer service is the life blood of any business. New customers are important but good customer service will help generate customer loyalty and repeat business. With every satisfied customer your business is likely to go on and secure many more customers through recommendations and if you do not take proper care of your customers there is probably a competitor waiting in the wings that will.

Online customer satisfaction surveys will help by not only identifying problem areas but show that you care and are proactive in looking for ways to improve the service that you provide.

 

Where do you start?

Objective - Before you start compiling your survey consider what the objectives of the survey are, in that way you will remain focused and find it easier to decide what questions to ask.

Analysis - In addition to the objectives consider how you will analyze the answers having completed the survey.

Bare in mind that 'closed' questions (where the respondents are asked to choose from a limited number of responses) are easier to analyse than questions that are ‘open’ (where the respondent can reply in anyway they want).

A great deal will depend on the expected volume of respondents, the higher the volume the more important it is to have an easy method of analysing the results.

Opportunity – Keep in mind that as well as obtaining valuable market research data customer surveys are also a good way to publicise aspects of your service that your customers may not be aware of.

Before publishing the survey read through the survey from a market research view point to confirm that you are asking the right questions in the right way and that your chosen answer format will provide you with feedback that will allow you to make informed decisions.

Then, read through the survey from a marketing view point, check that you have phrased each question so that every opportunity has been taken to promote your business?

The ideal question will perform the following three functions:-

  • Market research - provide valuable feedback to help you improve your customer satisfaction levels and in turn your business
  • Marketing - promote aspects of your business
  • Information/Education - advertise a service that you provide that your customers may not have been unaware of

In asking this question the store will hopefully not only receive useful feedback on the baby changing facility but they will also promote the store as being a child-friendly and caring store even to those the customers who do not actually require the facility.

A customer satisfaction survey should be designed to highlight problems so that they can be addressed; regular customer satisfaction will prevent complacency and will also give early warning on where your competitors initiatives may be losing you business.

 

What are the questions you should ask?

Depending on their own particular size and makeup each business is likely to have unique factors in relation to providing good customer services however there are common areas relevant to all businesses be they a physical store, online store or a service industry. The following are key areas to providing good customer service.

Communication - Are you confident that you make it easy for your customers to communicate with you?

When a customer telephones is the phone answered promptly; are enquiries about products or services properly handled? A good business will make every effort to ensure that whatever the customers query it is resolved by the right person, quickly, politely and fairly.

If a problem is not resolvable immediately do you promise to respond in a given time period and do you deliver on your promise?

Use a customer satisfaction survey to check that your customers find your staff to be helpful, courteous and knowledgeable.

Location – Do your customers find it easy to visit you, if a physical store, is it conveniently located with good access?

Making it pleasant, making it easy - For a virtual business it is important to ensure that your website is aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.

Physical store or online website, is the store properly laid out, can your customers find what they need and is there sufficient information and help on hand to explain how a particular product works?

The right quality products – In addition to measuring the quality of the service that you provide you should ensure make sure that the products and services that you provide do fully match your customers’ requirements.

Value for money – Cheap or expensive is not always a good measure, value for money is.

Do your current customers consider the products you sell or the services you provide as value for money, if not, why not?

Speed and attention – Customers want to be dealt with quickly but attentively.

Are you doing everything you can to avoid any delay?

A good business will try to treat each customer as an individual, does yours? Customers appreciate attention but only if it leads to a quick and satisfactory resolution of the query.

Demographics and Specific issues – Take the opportunity to profile your customers, for example their gender, age group and where they live?

Understand your customers more and you will be able to better target your business.

Allow customers to highlight their specific problems and provide contact details.

 

What next?

Analyze the results once the survey has been completed.

Trends – Look for common and specific areas where the customer service is found wanting.

Ask yourself honestly if any criticism that you receive is valid and if there anything that can be done to resolve or minimise the problem?

Training – Are all employees properly trained and do they have sufficient knowledge?

Where staff training programmes have been implemented have they had a positive impact on the business?

Follow-up – If a customer who has completed a survey has raised a specific issue do all you can to ensure that their complaint is addressed.

Do not waste an opportunity to resolve a problem and keep a customer.

Continuously Monitor - Make changes based on the survey results and then re-measure by issuing follow up surveys.
